The Portage County Public Library issued the following press release and poster today:

Stevens Point Native Michael Kirsch Book Signing at Portage County PL

Michael A. Kirsch will be discussing his new publication The Challenge of Credit Supply: American Problems and Solutions 1650-1950, an examination of U.S. economic history, at the Portage County Public Library.  Question and answer session and book signing will follow.

Michael’s interest in economic development and infrastructure investment led him towards an in-depth treatment of the financial system’s ability to facilitate development throughout history.  This research is laid out in The Challenge of Credit Supply.  With the use of primary sources, period literature, and quotations, the content is accessible for general audiences and those new to the topic, while presenting new and interesting information for the academic or economist.

Join us at 5:30PM on August 15th in the Pinery Room of the Portage County Public Library, where Michael Kirsch will present the evolution of three hundred years of U.S. economic history and how it applies to modern economics.  There is no cost for admission, and the event is open to all members of the public.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.

The Portage County Public Library strives to provide interesting and educational programs for the members of the community.  For any questions regarding this event or to schedule your own author event please contact Alison Wirth, Technical Services Librarian, by phone at 715-346-1603 or by email at
